What Swiss law says
The rear side windows and the rear windscreen can be tinted freely, with no limit on the shade, provided the car has both exterior rear-view mirrors. For these windows, the film does not need any type approval.
The front side windows and the windscreen, on the other hand, cannot be tinted: they must keep at least 70% light transmission, as required by art. 71a of the ordinance on the technical requirements for vehicles. During a check or the roadworthiness test, the police can measure the light transmission and penalise values that are too low.
